See Fox Spin...

Well tonight was actually fun...I left home at about 6:30 bundled up for a cold and rainy run. It wasnt drizzling...it was a steady and fairly heavy rain. Its actually been raining all day which meant i was splashing through puddles and streams all the way to the gym (about a mile) which means my feet were dry for the 1st 4 steps out the door!

By the time I got to the gym I was dripping wet and as soon as I dumped my jacked and fleece gloves and headband I was on the bike and peddeling away. Today was a bike workout so I logged 30 minutes on a stationary bike on a hill work out and I must admit that it was harder than I was expecting. I got about 9 miles down which means my race time on the bike portion alone will be just under an hour and a half...

I'm starting to wonder what I got myself into...but after the bike and light weights I ran the entire mile back home uphill...so there might be some hope for me! seend my your positive thoughts!

Keosha took this pic as soon as I walked into the apt...I'm dripping in rainwater! Feeling like a badass right now. My apple and peanut butter are long gone though so I'm off to shower and watch the Office!
lots of love!

See Fox Swim...

First swim practice was this morning! I LOVED it...there were about 50 swimmers in 6 lanes and everyone was excited! The 4:45 wake up call wasnt nearly as bad as I expected and I made the 5:30 practice on time! Off to a great start. The first 30 minutes was dedicated to rules, lane etiquette, and clarifcation on drills and lesson plans.

By the time we hit the water I was excited and all the anxiety about practice were gone. It has been well over 10 years since I swam competitively and so I started in lane 3 just to make sure I didnt bite off more than I could chew. By the end of warm ups one of the coaches had moved me up to lane 5! It actually felt good to think that i was doing alright...however I'm expecting that they will move me back down once practices get harder and they expect me to turn on the heat!

Yesterday I ran for 35 minutes for my first day of training which was nice...even pushed a few hills to make the most of it...and tomorrow is a day off. Which should be nice! More to come!

See Fox Register...

It is official. Yesterday I formally registered with Team In Training to participate in the Cap Tex Tri. That means that I will receive 5 months of training, support, and motivation to complete an Olympic distance triathlon and in exchange I have committed to fundraising at least $4,200 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I'm not sure which I'm more nervous about...the fundraising, the training, or race day! I'll continue to use this blog as an online diary to chart my progress and share the details of my experience with friends and family but for now lets get some basics out of the way.

Olympic Distance Triathlon = .9 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6.2 mile run

Cap Tex Tri = May 25th, 2009 (Memorial Day Weekend). http://www.captextri.com/site/ for more specifics!

As soon as I left the meeting I went to City Sports (my new favorite local sporting goods store) for a new racing suit and goggles. Putting that thing on brought back some old memories...not so excited about what is going to happen but swim practice starts Tuesday! EEK! Our group biking trips wont start until the second week in January so I will spend the next few weeks looking for a bike.

Anyway...I expect this blog will be filled with complaints, funny stories, new gadgets, and the excitement of this great big new goal I've made for myself...comments and encouragement welcome!

Much love,
cfox
